How does a cake rise?

This week for writing we have been learning to do explanation writing so here is one of my writing pieces.

  1. How to do gymnastics
  2. How to make a batch of cookies
  3. How to find diamonds in minecraft (survival)
  4. How does a bike work
  5. How much does a cake rise - THE WINNER

Plan
The cake rises from the baking powder
The baking powder are little air bubbles that increase in size when it is in the oven. Going to explain how a cake rises and why your cake won’t rise.

Title - I will tell them about how does a cake rise.

Introduction - corn flour makes a cake rise.

Main reason - the cake rises from the air bubbles increasing in size because of the heat from the oven.

The second reason - how much does a cake rise.

The reason behind the second reason -  the cake rises ¼ of an inch.

Conclusion - hope you know how a cake rises and how much does a cake rise.

How does a cake rise.
Cakes are mostly used on special occasions or sometimes just used to show people that you are a good cook. I have always wondered how does a cake rise that is why I will be telling you how does a cake rise.  Some of you probably think that the oven is magic and the cake rises because of the oven. But it is actually from what you put in the cake, the cake rises from something called baking powder, but how does the baking powder make the cake rise.

Baking powder looks like flour but is actually much different. If you have rubbed your hands on baking powder it’s really smooth but their are tiny tiny little air bubbles in baking powder. When the cake is placed in the oven the heat of the oven makes the air bubbles increase in size and the cake rises. If you cut your cake in half you will probably see decently sized air bubbles in the cake.

But what if your cake doesn't rise? There are two reasons why your cake doesn’t rise, one of the reasons is you didn't put enough baking powder in your cake or you didn't put any at all. The second  reason why your cake won't rise is your oven isn't at the right temperature. How much does a cake rise the average length for a cake to rise is ¼ of an inch. But some cakes are different and some recipes are different so some cakes rise differently but the average cake rises ¼ of an inch.

My winter sports team

Winter sports.
Over the winter sport season me and my rugby team played a lot of rugby games, made up of year fives and year six students. Our rugby team turned out really good, the first rugby game we played was against Te papa school. I thought that we wouldn't stand a change but in the end we came out on top. In about the middle of the season me and my team moved to the A grade and there was only 4 teams in the A grade including us.

In the A grade the games were much harder than the games we were playing before we were in the A grade. The fist game we played in the A grade we got smashed bye the Shirley bulldogs, that was a game we would remember. The last game we ever played for the season was against hill view school, it was a really hard game but in the end hill view school came out on top. From the first game to the last game we have improve so much. My fitness has improved a lot since the first game to the last game, all so I think I have got slightly faster when we started rugby.

Does your school have winter sports?
